Women Who Exercise Strenuously Experience Menstrual Disturbances

The Winter Olympics are over, and it is time to reflect on possible side-effects of very strenuous exercise — especially in women.

When compared to sedentary women, those who exercise very strenuously tend to experience more difficulties with their menstrual cycle. And how much is too much?  Similar findings were discovered in earlier research when young women ran 10 miles a day in addition to 3.5 hours of daily moderate exercise. The most effective treatment? Cut back, but don’t eliminate healthy exercise.

PositiveTip: Life balance is vital. Even good things can cause negative side-effects if taken to excess.
