Elmo, of Sesame Street fame, visited the new U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, at the Department of Health and Human Services. He was recruited to make a 30-second Public Service Announcement about the importance of getting vaccinated. In U.S. children born between 1994 and 2013 routine childhood vaccinations have prevented an estimated 322 million illnesses, 21 million hospitalizations and 723,000 deaths.
