It is now estimated that from March 2020 through April 2021 over 1.5 million children globally experienced at least one primary or secondary caregiver death. This group continues to grow as the pandemic progresses. Not only parents, but grandparents play a vital role as caregivers for their children. In many parts of the world, grandparents provide much practical, emotional, and even financial help for their grandchildren. These children are now at risk for abuse, emotional harm, physical violence, and family separation.
