Research on adolescents from substance abuse treatment centers in Colorado (one of the 17 states and DC that allow legal medical marijuana) shows that 74% had used marijuana that had been diverted from legal medical prescriptions. Amazingly, both diverters and non-diverters started canabis use at an average age of 12 years old. Diverters had a significantly higher (33%) rate of marijuana disorders.
