Risk of Diabetes Lowered by Green Leafy Vegetables

A British meta-analysis of six high-quality prospective cohort studies to examine the independent benefits of fruit and vegetable intake on the risk of type 2 diabetes. They found a non-significant trend demonstrating benefit of all fruits and vegetables, but there was a significant benefit between least to highest intakes of green leafy vegetables. Those eating the most green leafy vegetables reduced their incidence of diabetes by 14%! Greens are a rich source of antioxidants.

PositiveTip: Your mother was right! Eat your fruits and vegetables–especially the green leafy ones!
