A new study of dietary patterns and grocery-store spending among 79,191 women participants in the Nurses’ Health Study reveals that the healthiest eaters spent 24% more on groceries, and experience less high blood pressure and type-2 diabetes.
Interestingly, the study did not compare the grocery outlets used to purchase the foods. The authors were quick to emphasize that “large improvements in diet can be achieved without increased spending.”
PositiveTip: Purchasing plant-based foods can give the most bang for your buck.
