Danish researchers investigated obesity’s impact on the risk for breast cancer recurrence and death in almost 19,000 women who received treatment for early-stage breast cancer between 1977 and 2006. Women with a body-mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher had significantly more recurrence and death from breast cancer than those whose BMI was 25 or lower.
PositiveTip: Lifestyle changes leading to weight loss will reduce breast cancer risk and improve outcomes.
