More Complications in Diabetic Hip Fractures

British researchers compared the treatment outcomes of nearly 6000 hip fractures in diabetics and non-diabetics. The diabetics experienced more walking limitations and were more likely to need a walking aid than those without diabetes. Following surgery, the diabetics developed twice the post-operative cardiac complications and pressure ulcers, and required 4 additional days of hopitalization compare to those without diabetes.

PositiveTip: Diabetics need to take the condition seriously. Healthy eating and regular physical exercise go along ways to help control it.
