The 2012 Olympics are here! We will witness incredible achievements–and be inundated with ads claiming that a specific sports product enhanced performance, leading to a medal! Do these products really do what they claim? Unfortunately, such claims are often not supported by evidence-based, scientific studies according to British researchers. Even for products that provide studies to support their claims, 84% of these studies have a high risk of bias. Only 3% were judged to be of “high quality and at low risk of bias.”
PositiveTip: Be wary of the advertised benefits of performance-enhancing products.
