The US Centers for Disease Control reports that 20% of women are raped at some point in their lives–and in most cases the purpetrator is someone she knows. This data was collected in a nationwide telephone survey of more than 25,000 English or Spanish speaking adults. One in seven men were physically attacked by an intimate partner. There are long-term physical, psyhchological and social consequences to these actions.
