Heavy Coffee Drinking Reduces Brain Volume

One of the most popular drinks around the world is coffee. Researchers in Australia assessed the effects of coffee consumption, brain volume measurements, and the risk of dementia and stroke. It was a large study with 17,700 participants. Participants were between 37 and 73 years of age. Those who consumed more than six cups of coffee per day had smaller brain volume and a 53% higher risk of dementia. The risk for stroke was significantly higher, but not as high as for dementia.

PositiveTip: To lower your risk of dementia and stroke avoid heavy consumption of coffee.
