The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has denied a request by the Corn Refiners Association to use the term “corn sugar” as an alternate name for “high fructose corn syrup” (HFCS). HFCS, a common sweetner in drinks, is under increasing scrutiny today as a possible risk factor for hypertension, obesity, and heart disease.
PositiveTip: Limit the amount of sweetened beverages you consume, and you will drastically lower your intake of HFCS.
