Chlamydia Infections at All-Time High

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says that in 2010 more than 1.3 million cases of sexually transmitted Chlamydia trachomatis were reported–the largest number of cases ever reported for any condition. This represents a 5.1% increase since 2009. Researchers say that more screening, better tests, and more complete reporting contribute to this increase, but they cannot rule out “a true increase in morbidity.” This disease increases the risk of pelvic inflamatory disease, a major cause of infertility and chronic pelvic pain.

PositiveTip: The Biblical concept of sexual abstinence before marriage, and marital faithfulness would prevent most Chlamydia infections.
