Intimate Partner Violence a Large Problem

Sad fact: 1.3 million US women were raped last year--most by someone they know.

The US Centers for Disease Control reports that 20% of women are raped at some point in their lives--and in most cases the purpetrator is someone she knows. This data was collected in a nationwide telephone survey of more than 25,000 English or Spanish speaking adults. One in seven men were physically attacked by an intimate partner. There are long-term physical, psyhchological and social consequences to these actions.

PositiveTip: Advocate for violence-free values that encourage respectful relationships. "Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other" (Romans 12:10).

I appreciate this e-mail message on intimate partner violence. Intimate partner violence happens often and we do not want to talk about it. Thanks for communicating about this unpopular topic.
