Higher HDL Levels Lower Risk of CVD

Lower your risk of cardiovascular disease by raising your HDL levels.

When your physician orders a lipid profile, the lab analyses your blood for at least two kinds of cholesterol, the LDL and HDL--the good and the bad fractions. You were no doubt told to lower the one and raise the other, but does that really help you? A new McGill University study has concluded after an average of 8 years of follow-up that every 1% increase in HDL the risk for a coronary event was reduced by 2%.

PositiveTip: Lower risk of coronary events by raising your HDL level. How? Regular physical activity is the most effective non-drug way of pushing it up!
