How Food Label Savvy Are You?

Not enough of us are using Nutrition Facts information to inform our food choices.

A national survey (NHANES) has found that only 61.5% of Americans regularly look at the Nutrition Facts panel on the food items they purchase. The numbers are worse for other label information: 51.6% check the ingredients label, 47.2% examine the serving size, and 43.8% consider the health claims when deciding on a food purchase. Significantly fewer men utilized this information than women.
